Garrett Milby
My name is Garrett Milby. I just recently completed my MA in Organizational Leadership from Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, KY. From a young age I always knew I wanted to do something positive with my life that inspired others. When asked what my dream job would be I always said "One day I wanted to be a motivational speaker". So, here I am today as a living testament that anything is possible.
I live my live by my life verse Jer 29:11. While that scripture is well known, it was not until I was preparing for a sermon that God clearly spoke to me and let me know I was finally living the plan He had for me before I ever knew what I was suppose to be doing. It was at that moment that my priorities came into focus and everything changed. I had a sense of easement about where my life was at, where it was heading and I have not looked back since. While there have been bumps along the way(learning opportunities), I have never lost sight of what lies ahead.
I have devoted the last decade of my life to the military as a Reservist and in the education industry as a College Admissions Representative and College and Career Readiness Coach. I feel these two areas are my strengths and suit my God gifts and talents. My PASSION lies in serving others. I am of the opinion that there is no greater testament to a persons willingness to serve others, than placing your life on the line for ones country. Additionally, motivating and empowering students as they aspire to further their education beyond high school, while breaking down barriers, that leads individuals to future success is beyond any Earthly reward that can be given.
I live by a simple motto: "There is no me without HE" as I feel I am only a small part of the grander scheme of life. My mission is to motive and empower as many individuals as possible to provide a positive outcome for their life. Therefore, I center my leadership styles around transformational and servant leadership. It is my belief that when we begin to serve others, losing our selfish ways and become selfless, we can maximize our talents, the talents of those around us and become the person God intended us to be.
With that being said I look forward to continuing my personal growth through the John Maxwell Team and trainings. What better way to grow in the leadership arena than to learn from one of the greatest masterminds on the concept of leadership, while gaining valuable insights from my peers and which will afford me the opportunity to further influence the world one individual at a time.
Blessings.
