Dr. Deborah Tillman
Deborah L. Tillman is Parent Educator, Speaker, Author, Founder of Happy Home Child Learning Center, Inc., “America’s Supernanny” on Lifetime Television and President of the non-profit: The Parenting Movement. Labeled “A Force for Good” by The Washington Post, Tillman has a deep passion for children. She began her career over a decade ago when she became frustrated with the lack of quality childcare her son was receiving and as a result, quit her very lucrative accounting job and started her own school in 1994. A native of East Orange, New Jersey, Tillman believes that parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child’s life.
Deborah L. Tillman is one of America’s most authentic and powerful voices for parents and is not afraid to be open and honest with them. Her no-nonsense yet, loving approach landed her the role as America’s Supernanny on Lifetime Television. Tillman holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from George Washington University and a Doctorate in Education from the Richmond Virginia Seminary. She has also studied at Oxford University, Magdalen College in England. Among her many accomplishments, Deborah Tillman has been a recurring parenting expert on the Steve Harvey talk show. She has also been seen on The View, Today Show, Katie Show, Home and Family Network, Wendy Williams and CNN to name a few. Tillman has also been featured in Essence Magazine, Jet, Ebony, Northern Virginia, Washington Woman, and Parent Magazines. Tillman has contributed articles to Gospel Today and Ebony Magazine. Tillman is the author of Stepping out On Faith - How to Open a Quality Childcare Center (2005) and Parenting on Purpose (2014): A Menu for Raising Children in Today’s Society. In 2015, Tillman started The Parenting Movement, a non-profit organization that seeks to equip and empower parents as they rear the next generation of children. The mission is to rebuild and restore families worldwide. Tillman is a highly sought-after facilitator and speaker. Her commitment, persistence, tenacity and love for children and their families keep her going. Deborah believes that if you want to raise a generation of children who have the potential to reach their full potential, then we need to support and equip parents to be powerful Agents of Change. Tillman resides in Northern Virginia with her husband James and their son, Zeplyn Xavier who recently graduated from Georgetown University.
