My twenty-eight year career in the field of nonprofit philanthropy has provided me numerous opportunities to coach, encourage and inspire others. Throughout the years, there has been a recurring theme from my peers to take this “gift” of working with people from all levels of an organization and use it in a way to encourage others.
I have followed John Maxwell ever since I attended a Leadercast Live simulcast at a local church. John was one of the speakers and everything he said about leadership resonated with me. For several years, it has been on my mind and in my heart to inquire about the John Maxwell team but I put it on the back burner because the timing never seemed right.
Then, little “signs” continued to show up: people encouraging me to use my gifts to inspire others on a bigger stage, the John Maxwell messages that kept showing up on my Linked In and Facebook, a nagging feeling that I should be doing more, growing more, getting-out-there-more! It seemed everywhere I turned, there was another sign!
Leadership is earned, it is not given; this is what I believe. My hope is to inspire others to lead on a solid foundation comprised of four pillars: integrity, compassion, fairness, preparation.
My hope is to inspire people to discover the leader within them and pass it on to others. Our “next up” generation is eager to learn and it is up to us to show them the way.
I believe this calling isn’t a coincidental “thing”, I believe it’s a God “thing”. “For such a time as this” is upon us and it is up to us to seize this special, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This is our legacy to the next generation of leaders!
