Leopoldina L. Armando
My name is Leopoldina Lidia Armando, I come from Mozambique, which is located in the Southern of Africa. I am married, a mother of three children. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and Business Management from Apolitecnica University in Mozambique and a Certificate in Development Studies for Development Practitioners from UNISA, South Africa.
I began my career as a teacher in primary school for two years. Having envisioned the need to expand my career path in development, I worked for the World Vision International, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for nine years in the Child Sponsorship Program. I emerged to the team leader ladder for the department of customer relation services.
In 2009, I resigned from my job in the World Vision International to join my husband in an International mission to Nigeria, Tanzania and currently in Uganda. Whilst in Nigeria, I worked for the Africa Centre for Resources Studies, a Non-Profit NGO that helps governments to implement the strategic, evidence-based and innovative policies, which strengthen public governance and respond effectively to economic, social and environmental challenges leading to better economies and greater trust between citizens and governments.
In addition to this role, I am a volunteer at a local church as a Sunday school children teacher. Family-wise, we have opened our house for Bible studies once per week, supporting our church, mostly we host youth and young couples. I am also part of ‘Bible Fellowship Study’, an international group which was established in USA. In 2017, I joined the ‘Parent Teacher Association’(PTA) at my children’s school, to help building a strong sense of community at the school by arranging social functions, fund-raising in the response to the school needs and help direct parents who have questions about the school to the appropriate person in the school’s administration.
My great passion is to bring awareness to parents/guardians on the issue of raising children. Living an international life and moving through different countries brought attention to me to analyse the challenges exposed to children due to family’s degradation of values and morals. I want to help adults, parents and families to engage in the issue of raising their children and help them understand that it is possible to pursue your professional career, business, etc. whilst spending quality time with your children. I am learning that one cannot postpone the process of raising their children while pursuing their career and delegate it to another person. As Hilary Clinton mentions in her book, (It takes a village to raise a child), “the world is in hurry but the children are not in hurry”. If we need a different society, raising our children should be our first and primary responsibility to determine whom they have the potential to became. The future of any child is affected by how other children are being raised.
I am enthusiastic and innovative professional who likes to add value to people and help them maximise their potential to accomplish goals in life.
Because of the above, after the International Maxwell Certification, I would like to influence people through leadership courses, organizational and individual development courses, inspirational and transformational speaking, coaching and training. I would want to help people to become entrepreneurs in a world which has become competitive where innovative driven solutions are becoming the orders of the day. I also would want to work with youth in the schools, communities and churches through ‘youth max program’.
