I am the President and Founder of Rise Performance Group. Rise Performance Group was founded on the belief that people are an organization’s most valuable asset. Buildings and other assets decay over time, but people can grow and become more valuable if they are in an environment conducive for growth. Strong leaders produce that environment.
I had a long, successful career in sales and sales leadership. But in 2011, I found myself stagnant in a dysfunctional leadership environment after the company I was with had been acquired. I was in San Francisco when news came that Steve Jobs had died and I remember listening to excerpts from his 2005 Stanford commencement address where he said: “…for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
At that point, I pulled the car over, looked in the rear view mirror and committed to take control of my life and pursue my purpose. The inspiration for Rise Performance Group started in that moment when I realized my purpose was to help build leaders.

I believe there is a dearth of good leaders in our companies, schools and society as a whole today. There are too many people who are looking for the leader rather than rising up and becoming the leader. At Rise Performance Group, we are passionate about changing that. People will not passionately follow someone because they are told to follow them – they will, however, passionately follow someone because they respect that person and feel the mission is worthy of their own leadership ability. We are all called to leadership; we are all created to be leaders. Every individual has leadership potential that needs to be cultivated and unleashed. These individuals need guidance, direction and coaching so they can elevate their leadership abilities and own their identity as a leader.
