Roland Houston
Roland Houston, President of Houston Athletics LLC Sports Enrichment and Empowerment Company, he has given seminars for several NCAA universities as well as with athletic departments on the high school level. Roland believes that educational institutions provide an environment for growth and development but it is the responsibility of the student athlete to take full advantage of their situation. Whether you are from an affluent, traditional or challenging environment, Roland believes that the opportunity to grow as a leader, socially conscience person and well-rounded individual is available when student athletes are aware of their position of strength. He uses a Vision Team Concept that he believes will aid students in fulfilling their dreams. Not only does he work with elite athletes but with the athlete whose goal is to become elite. Sports can allow the opportunity for people to grow in so many areas, which can eventually lead to not only a competitive mindset but also the ability to work with and respect individuals from all walks of life. He believes because of sport if you are open to learn you will “GROW”, this growth will help you become not only a powerful person but a powerful leader.
Roland has mentored, coached and trained student athletes for over 15 years. His experiences are as a NCAA Coach and player. As an assistant basketball coach at La Salle University, George Washington University and George Mason University, Roland played a key role of the development of student athletes, not only the basketball team but throughout the athletic departments where he worked. He would frequently meet with coaches from various sports to not only learn but share ideas, concepts and motivation techniques. As a Coach, Roland was an intrigue part of 3 NCAA tournament teams and a George Washington University team that was ranked 6th in the country.
Roland has appeared as a guest panelist on the Roland Martin Show with was aired on TVone.
Roland also offers basketball skill development to big and small groups, teams and individuals. His number one rule with all of his students is “You cannot get frustrated”

Roland who graduated from the University of Rhode Island, is proficient in both Spanish and French, studied French at the Universite’ de Nice along with graduate level Spanish classes at La Salle University. Most of his language proficiency was obtained when he lived aboard. He played 13 years of pro ball overseas in France, Spain, Israel and Argentina where his team won a championship. Roland ran basketball clinics in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South America.
